To the outside world, 16-year-old Sandra has a wonderful life as a successful singer in a San Francisco band. Hardly anyone knows how hard it was to get there and what grief Sandra tries to keep secret from the world.

But then her hard-won happiness is shattered in one fell swoop when she learns of the accidental death of her cousin Dominic, her only support, her constant source of encouragement. In desperation, Sandra starts writing letters to Dominic in order to keep him alive for her.

Dominic's best friend Alex is there for Sandra from the beginning and always supports her. But can she get involved now, of all times, with a boy who is known for breaking hearts?
